About Us

Basis of Faith

We believe that all Scripture is God given and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct, and we confess the historic faith and trustworthiness of the Gospel. We accept that these doctrines are crucial to the understanding of the Christian faith and believe that we should act upon them with mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelical concern.

We believe:

  • In one true and living God who exists as Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
  • In Jesus Christ as fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, His perfect life, His death on the cross, His bodily resurrection to life, His present reign as Lord and His impending return in power and glory.
  • In the person of the Holy Spirit. We believe that He convicts us of our sin, saves those who repent and believe in Jesus Christ, and equips and empowers believers to live the Christian faith.
  • In the sinfulness and guilt of everyone, making us subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
  • That we are saved only by the grace of God through personal faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
  • That all believers belong to the universal Church, of which Christ is the Head, and are committed by His command to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world.

Who we are

York Christian Youth Holidays (YCYH) is a charitable voluntary organisation with many years experience of running such holidays, programs, and events. The organisation is non-denominational and financially self-supporting. We are organisational members of Christian Camping International (CCI), which is an association for Christian organisations involved in camps, holidays, conferences, and outdoor centre ministries.

We aim to run quality, affordable, and safe holidays and events for children and young people aged 8-18. This includes holidays at the Rock UK centre Whithaugh Park, RUup4it events, Taskforce training and mentoring program, and 1-2-1 mentoring. All specialist activities only take place under the supervision of fully qualified instructors from activity centres, licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).

YCYH recognizes the importance of its work with children and young people, and its responsibility to protect everyone entrusted to our care. We therefore have developed and operate a Safeguarding Policy, which is registered with the Churches Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS). We are committed to ensuring that all leaders who work with children and young people for YCYH have undergone a Disclosure & Barring Service check at enhanced level, are adequately trained and supervised, and understand our Safeguarding Policy and will follow the Standards of Working Practice. A behaviour policy and agreement, that all children and young people must sign and adhere to, is included as part of our safeguarding. A copy of the full policy including Standards of Working Practice is available from the YCYH Office.

Our vision is to encourage children and young people to know our Lord Jesus Christ, and to equip and empower them to live out their Christian faith. Although YCYH purposely keep its costs to minimum, we rely on gifts and donations from churches, organisations and individuals to support our all year round ministry enabling more children and young people to attend who would otherwise be unable to because of financial pressures. Opportunities to support us are available though our gift aid declaration form and bankers order form.
